Monitoring & Periodic Attention

Home Sewage Treatment Plants (HSTPs) are complete ecosystems made up of trillions of living organisms. Like any living thing, they require monitoring and periodic attention to stay healthy. Monitoring and periodic attention are required to ensure the well-being of these living colonies of organisms. This is important for two reasons:

First, a healthy HSTP will supply clean effluent (water that has been treated by the plant).

Second, it will help prevent problems that can lead to costly repairs.

Your Krystel Kleer service person is specially trained to tend and monitor your HSTP. By giving your system the best care possible, you can be assured of clean effluent and a long lifespan for your treatment plant.

Maintenance Requirements

The following steps need to be observed to ensure that our service personnel can access your property for servicing your Krystel Kleer Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Arrange to unlock any gates to allow the service personnel access to your property.

Tie up your dog if you have one.

Ensure that the service person can safely access your domestic sewage treatment system and irrigation area.

Do not cover the tank system with earth, concrete, pavers, or any material.

Do not prevent quick and easy access to any inspection openings.

Do not allow roof or surface water to enter any part of the system.

If you have any questions or concerns about your HSTP performance, please discuss it with your service provider while on-site.

Caring for Your System

Do’s

  • Every day – Conserve water to avoid overloading your system and use biodegradable detergents that are low in phosphorus and sodium

  • Every three months – We will come to inspect and service your system
  • Every 7-10 years – We will pump out the residual sludge in your tanks. Check your quarterly service reports to see if a pump-out has been recommended
