Our Guide to Troubleshooting Your Wastewater System Faults Across South East Queensland

Fault 1 - The Alarm Sounds, and the Air Light Illuminates

Possible Causes: Action:
Tripping of a circuit breaker. Mute the alarm. Check to see if the blower is running by listening for the sound it makes. If not, follow instructions for resetting the circuit breaker.
Power failure. Check the power supply and/or other home appliances and fittings. If necessary, contact your electricity supplier or a local electrician.
Blower failure. If the power supply is okay, but the blower is still not running, a service call is necessary.

Fault 2 - The Alarm Sounds, and the Water Light Illuminates

Possible Causes: Action:
Tripping of a circuit breaker. Mute the alarm. Check to see if the blower is running by listening for the sound it makes. If not, follow instructions for resetting the circuit breaker.
Power failure. Check the power supply and/or other home appliances and fittings. If necessary, contact your electricity supplier or a local electrician.
Blocked irrigation filter. Clean out the filter.
Blocked in the irrigation line. Flush the irrigation line.
Kink in the irrigation line. Unkink the line, and if necessary, cut out the damaged section and re-join.
Pump failure. If all of the above have been checked, but the pump still does not operate, a service call is necessary.

Fault 3 - Irrigation Doesn’t Work

Possible Causes: Action:
Tripping of the circuit breaker. Mute the alarm. Check to see if the blower is running by listening for the sound it makes. If not, follow instructions for resetting the circuit breaker. Check the power supply and/or other home appliances and fittings. If necessary, contact your electricity supplier or a local electrician.
Blocked irrigation filter. Unblock the filter.
Blockage in the irrigation line. Flush out the irrigation line.
Kink in the irrigation line. Unkink the line, and if necessary, cut out the damaged section and re-join.
Pump Failure. If all of the above have been checked, but the pump still does not operate, a service call is necessary.

Fault 4 - Excessive Foaming

Possible Causes: Action:
Too much detergent is being used in the laundry. Use the recommended quantities of detergents.
Too many washes. Adjust the loads – only do one or two washes per day.

Fault 5 - Persistent Odours

Possible Causes: Action:
The tank system has not matured yet. Contact your local Krystel Kleer office for advice.
Too much water is being discharged through your household fittings simultaneously. Modify your water use patterns to avoid heavy loads on the system – e.g. avoid using the bath and washing machine simultaneously.
Excessive chemicals and/or disinfectants are being used in your residence. Please avoid this, and the system will recover.
E-duct vents or S-bends are not suitably constructed. Refer to your plumber or contact your local Krystel Kleer office for advice.
Exposed areas in tanks and seal degradation. Apply a light mix of sand and cement or a similar mix.
The system is doing more than its capacity. Refrain from overloading.
The venting system on the house is too low or is over a window. Extend the vent pipe higher.
